17 SDGs - 17 injustices to fight

Published 12 August 2021 in Facts and figures , Updated 6 March 2026

The COVID-19 pandemic revealed just how interconnected and interdependent our world truly is.
Pandemics, biodiversity loss, climate disruptions, and the consequences of conflicts—like inequalities—know no borders.
In a world of 8 billion people, only strengthened multilateral action involving international organizations, states, local authorities, civil society, and citizens on a global scale can make a difference.
A detailed, measurable action plan assigning responsibilities to each actor was already adopted on September 25, 2015, by the 193 UN Member States…
This plan is the 2030 Agenda, built around 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
These 17 goals, to be achieved by 2030, aim to leave no one behind, recognizing the intrinsic links between each challenge. No goal can be considered in isolation : the achievement of one depends on progress across all others.
At a time when many are asking how recovery plans can both protect jobs and invest in quality public systems (health, education) sustainably (biodiversity, climate), the SDGs offer a roadmap to tackle 17 injustices and multiple violations of fundamental rights and human dignity simultaneously.
